- Ghana recognizes physical IDPs, as long as they meet the requirements set by the country’s traffic regulations.
Application Process:
- The process includes authentication of the applicant’s Driver’s Licence, payment of fees, filling out forms, taking a test on road signs and markings, as well as answering general questions about the country for which the permit is to be issued, culminating in the issuance of the International Driving Permit.
Validity:
- An IDP obtained in Ghana is generally valid for one year from the date of issue. If needed, it can be renewed, but the validity cannot exceed the expiration date of the domestic driving licence.

- Ghana is a party to international conventions, such as the 1968 Vienna Convention and 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic. The IDP issued in Ghana complies with the standards set by these conventions.
