Eligibility Criteria:
- Issued based on a valid Estonian driving licence.
IDP Accepted:
- Estonia recognizes physical IDPs, as long as they meet the requirements set by the country’s traffic regulations.
Application Process:
- To apply for an international permit, submit the following documents to a service bureau of the Road Administration:
- An identity document
- A document photo (min. size 35 x 45 mm)
- Proof of payment of the state fee.
- Alternatively, applications may be submitted with a digital signature, in which case the document photo can be sent by post along with a digitally signed document containing scans of the applicant’s Estonian driving licence.
Validity:
- An IDP obtained in Estonia is generally valid for one year from the date of issue. If needed, it can be renewed, but the validity cannot exceed the expiration date of the domestic driving licence.
Accepted Countries:
- Estonia is a party to international conventions, such as the 1968 Vienna Convention and 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic. The IDP issued in Estonia complies with the standards set by these conventions.
Driving Licence Requirement:
- An international driving permit is valid only with an Estonian driving licence.
- Additional: Estonian driving licence is valid in countries belonging to the European Economic Area.
