Eligibility Criteria:
- Holders of valid Indonesian driving license
IDP Accepted:
- Indonesia recognizes physical IDPs, as long as they meet the requirements set by the country’s traffic regulations.
Application Process:
- To apply for your international driving licence, you can do so in two ways: online or offline. For online applications, you can visit Korlantas POLRI’s IDL application site and submit the requirements mentioned below. Required documents: – In a recent photograph with two visible shirt buttons, and a white background, the shirt and/or hijab cannot be white, you cannot wear glasses, face the camera, use contact lenses, or wear a burka. – black and white photo – ID card – KITAS or KITAP if foreigner – valid passport – valid driver’s license – signature on white paper using black ink You can also go directly to the Korlantas POLRI office in Jl. Letjen M.T. Haryono No. 37–38, RT.6/RW.2, Cikoko, Pancoran, South Jakarta to get your international driver’s licence while bringing the physical requirements above as well. The fee for new international driving license is Rp 250,000.
Validity:
- An IDP obtained in Indonesia is generally valid for one year from the date of issue. If needed, it can be renewed, but the validity cannot exceed the expiration date of the domestic driving licence.
Accepted Countries:
- Indonesia is a party to international conventions, such as the 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic. The IDP issued in Indonesia complies with the standards set by these conventions.
Driving Licence Requirement:
- An IDP is not a driving licence in its own right. You must be able to present both your IDP and your local driver’s licence when you travel.
