Eligibility Criteria:
- Citizens of the Russian Federation, as well as foreign citizens and stateless persons legally residing in the Russian Federation may apply to obtain an International Driving Permit
IDP Accepted:
- Russia recognizes physical IDPs, as long as they meet the requirements set by the country’s traffic regulations.
Application Process:
- Gather all necessary documents required for the application process (see list below).
- Book an appointment online with the Department of State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (Stavropol)/General Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to submit your documents.
- Await a response from the system regarding your application. If approved, government agencies will contact you to confirm your request. If denied, you will receive notification of the reasons.
- For applicants with approved applications, submit the completed application form and all required documents.
- Pay the application fee.
- Collect your International Driving Permit in person.
- Required Documents:
- Driver’s licence
- Applicant’s photo (size 35×45 mm)
- Medical certificate (Form N 083/U-89)
- Document confirming applicant’s registered residency: passport with registration mark, certificate of residence registration, or other documents with authority mark from the FMS of Russia.
- Valid Identification Fees: International Driving Permit: 1,000 rubles
Validity:
- An IDP obtained in Russia is generally valid for one year from the date of issue. If needed, it can be renewed, but the validity cannot exceed the expiration date of the domestic driving licence.
Accepted Countries:
- Russia is a party to international conventions, such as the 1968 Vienna Convention and 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic. The IDP issued in Russia complies with the standards set by these conventions.
Driving Licence Requirement:
- An IDP is not a driving licence in its own right. You must be able to present both your IDP and your local driver’s licence when you travel.
